Thank you for visiting the Scenar Practitioners Society of Ireland new website.

The SPSI was formed on the 7th of July 2000 by John Garvey and a group of interested students.
The SPSI was established to regulate the use of Scenar (Skenar, Kosmed) in Ireland and to ensure the highest standards of practice and Ethics for the benefit of the public, the clients and the practitioners.
The SPSI is the National Scenar "Umbrella" organisation and the regulatory authority for Ireland.
The SPSI has its own Constitution and Code of Ethics as well as its own Accreditation and Standards Sub-Committee.
The SPSI is open to all, whether from medical, complementary/alternative/holistic backgrounds.
In order to qualify as an RSPSI (Registered, Scenar Practitioners Society of Ireland) one must meet the core curriculum standards required by the SPSI and the Department of Health prior to branching out into ones own qualified health speciality.

Amongst the benefits to members are:

  •   The highest training standards.
  •   The protection of the National and Internationally recognised organisation.
  •   Benefits of shared Scenar Knowledge.
  •   Discounts of Scenar devices and associated products.
  •   Share your views and comments through the SPSI Newsletter.
  •   Receive first hand access to recently translated Russian Scenar research both from the past and present times.
  •   Air your views at AGMs and courses and on committee meetings and various panels for registered Practitioners.
  •   The SPSI is a non-profit making society, which redistributes profits to members by way of discounts, reductions and special services.

SCENAR - What is it?

The Scenar (Self-Controlled Energo Neuro Adaptive Regulator) pioneering device was invented by Russian scientists for using in the Space Programme by cosmonauts.
Scenar therapy is a holistic form of treatment, which stimulates the nervous system and teaches it to heal itself. Electrical impulses, the parameters of which are similar to endogenous nerve impulses, are transmitted through the skin to the nervous system. Fast-reacting informational biofeedback means that each impulse is different from the previous one and helps to speed up healing.
Scenar action influences the adaptive processes of the organism and helps harmonise them. In response to Scenar impulses the Nervous System releases neuropeptides, which are broken down into many compounds, which are themselves, bioactive. As a result, balance (homeostasis) is gradually and gently restored.

What does it feel like?

As the device is moved over the surface of the skin a comfortable tingling sensation is felt. In cases of severe pain or acute conditions, the sensation may be stronger.

How Scenar works on a disease?

Clients having Scenar treatment need to take responsibility for their health and are advised to actively participate in the treatment and recovery process. The chemical compounds, released by the nerves, affect not only the problem areas, but also circulate in the blood treating other areas of the body. This goes some way to explaining how old -and often forgotten problems- are brought to the surface for treatment.

How does it differ from other therapies?

There are several ways in which it differs from other electrical therapies.

Unlike TENS impulses, each Scenar impulse is different from the previous one so the body is able to adapt to the signal, thus breaking the negative habit and encouraging healing.

Scenar impulses are high amplitude so may stimulate C-fibres, which makes up about 85% of the nerves in the body. That explains the quick effectiveness of Scenar therapy in the whole body.
